2024-12-05
December 6, 2025 Club World Cup group draw results announced, Spain's "As" also for us to analyze some of the groups worth watching.
Group A: Messi vs
The showdown between Palmeiras and Miami Inter will see Messi and Esteban meet on the pitch. Esteban has been dubbed "Little Messi" because of his skill, and despite being only 17 years old, he is already considered a player of The Times. With a 20-year age difference between the two players, the match could prove to be a major turning point in the career of the Brazilian youngster, who will join Chelsea next season.
Group B: Enrique meets Simeone again
Before Enrique joined Paris Saint-Germain, he was seen as a potential successor to Simeone at Atletico Madrid. For Lucas Hernandez, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain and has experience with Atletico, the match also has special significance. Botafogo (recent Copa Libertadores winners) and seemingly weak Seattle Sounders were also drawn in the same group.
Group C: Gago's reunion with Di Maria
Bayern Munich are clear favourites to win this group, but the clash between Benfica and Boca Juniors is the most eye-catching. As part of the Portugal squad, Di Maria will face former teammate and now Boca youth coach Gago. Auckland City is the lesser team in this highly qualified group.
Group D: David Luiz against his old club Chelsea
Flamengo will be Chelsea's first major challenge in the Cup. Brazil's best performing team in recent years includes former Blues defender David Luiz, who joined Stamford Bridge for a fee of €30 million and helped the club win their first Champions League title in 2012.
Group E: The unfinished business of Demichelis
Demichelis, who was sacked by River Plate six months ago after a poor run of results, will lead Monterrey to another meeting with his former club. Inter Milan are the favourites in this group, which also includes Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds.
Group F: Dortmund have it easy
Within a year of winning the Copa Libertadores, Fluminense's performance had slumped and it was fighting to avoid relegation to Brazil's second tier. Dortmund, by contrast, are not expected to encounter too much difficulty, having also been drawn in group A with South Korea's Ulsan HD and South Africa's Mamolodi Sunsets.
Group G: The rich talk
The clash between Juventus and Manchester City is undoubtedly one of the most watched matches of the tournament. Although the two teams are not in the best form at the moment, both are eager to go further in this tournament. Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates is a force to be reckoned with, while Morocco's Casablanca Wadad seem unlikely to win.
Group H: Mbappe vs. Neymar
Mbappe and Neymar, who spent five seasons together at Paris Saint-Germain, were reunited at the Club World Cup, but the two are at different stages of their careers. Mbappe has just moved to Real Madrid to further his career; Neymar, on the other hand, has joined Saudi Arabia's Riyadh Crescent in the latter stages of his career.
