Wayne Rooney: Manchester United need to clean 10-15 people, the whole team looks very confused and timid [jiayu]


Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has insisted the club needs major change and proposed a major overhaul of the squad after chairman Sir Alex Ratcliffe attacked the squad for being underperforming and overpaid.

Speaking on the Football Focus podcast, Rooney said: "Fee is the one who has always had a fantastic performance and, although he annoys you at times, he has kept playing brilliantly. Manchester United's squad needs a major overhaul and I think there are 10 to 15 players who need to leave the club. Obviously, they can't do that, but there's a mentality in the team now that nobody wants to take responsibility. They looked lost and scared. I'll keep Fei and Menu."

"There is a culture at the club now that it is too easy to lose and the players talk after the game about moving on to the next game. Show some character and fight on the pitch."
