Wayne Rooney: I want Welbeck back at Old Trafford [jiayu]


In this round of the FA Cup, Welbeck's extra-time winner helped Brighton eliminate Newcastle 2-1 and was elected the best player of the game. After the game, Rooney, who was a football critic for the BBC, said he hoped Welbeck would return to Manchester United to play.

Rooney said: "Danny [Welbeck] is a fantastic team-mate and very comfortable to play with. To be honest, I really hope to see him as a Manchester United player again."

"He has scored goals throughout his career, had a difficult time with injuries in his early years, but has now completely overcome them and played a fantastic season."

Welbeck, 34, has made 25 appearances for Brighton this season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.
