Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have both signed new contracts at Liverpool until 2027, with an official announcement imminent [xueting]

Both players are in the final months of their existing deals, but there has been a breakthrough in negotiations that will see both players sign new deals until 2027.

Liverpool made Van Dijk a contract offer at the time, although the offer was below his expectations at the time and there had been no breakthrough on the salary and duration of the contract.

Ta8 December reported that Liverpool have made an open contract offer for Salah. At that stage, although Liverpool were confident the 32-year-old would stay, a deal was not agreed or close and his long-term future remained uncertain.

Following Sunday's defeat by Fulham, van Dijk gave his strongest indication yet that he will stay at Liverpool. He said "progress" had been made in protracted negotiations.

Speaking to the media after Liverpool's 3-2 win over Southampton on 24 November, Salah had said he was "probably more out than in", adding that he was disappointed not to have received a formal offer at the time.

But now, everything is close to being settled.
