The deal will be renewed for three years, the maximum contract a player under the age of 18 can sign under Spanish law, and can be extended if certain sporting goals are met. The contract will also contain a release clause worth 50 million euros, and the salary is not low for a player of Martinez's age. Martinez's current contract with Real Madrid expires in 2026.
The defender is sidelined after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in training in August and has undergone surgery.
Martinez arrived at Real Madrid in 2023 from Levante's academy and impressed in his first season, establishing himself in the Youth A team at Averoa.
This summer, he played in Real Madrid's pre-season tour of the United States against AC Milan and Barcelona and was considered a promising and sought-after player.
This season, with Nacho leaving the team and Yoro joining Manchester United, Martinez was expected to get more opportunities in the first team. After Martinez was injured, his place in the team was taken by another high-profile young centre-back, Jacob Ramon.
