Premier League refereeing has been plagued by scandals recently. On November 11, Premier League striker David Cooter was suspended after allegations of abuse against Liverpool and Jrgen Klopp. Just three days later, Cooter was in new trouble when the media pulled out a video of him using drugs.
Again, the media outlet that broke the story was the powerful Sun newspaper. Today, The Sun published an exclusive eight-second video of David Cooter wide-eyed before rolling up a dollar bill and snorting what appears to be cocaine powder.
The Sun stressed that David Cooter's drug use was carried out during the European Championship, and that he had law enforcement duties. The video is believed to have been taken on July 6, the day after Portugal's quarter-final against France, in which David Coote was the VAR referee.
David Cooter has privately admitted to taking drugs while officiating Premier League matches, sources have revealed. In addition, David Coote not only scolded Liverpool and Klopp, he also made negative comments against Everton and Bournemouth.
The Premier League refereeing company responded immediately after the Sun published a video of David Cooter using drugs, saying they were taking the matter seriously and could not comment further at this stage. Premier League referees suspended David Coote three days ago but have yet to sack him.
