The Daily Mail reported that England's leading group includes Kane, Walker, Rice and Trippier.

Southgate introduced a leadership group to the dressing room at the start of his tenure in 2016, with Jordan Henderson, Roy Maguire and Raheem Sterling all previously part of the group, but all three were absent from the tournament.

If Kane is sidelined through injury or needs a rest during the tournament, Southgate will hand over the armband to one of Walker, Trippier or Rice.

In an interview last week, Southgate called on his young players to take on leadership in the absence of Jordan Henderson, Roy Maguire, Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford.
