Live on December 6, The Mail reports that Arsenal have put Newcastle United striker Isaac at the forefront of their signing targets for next summer, and the possible appointment of a new sporting director could help the deal.
Following Edu's departure, Arsenal held talks with Olabe, who worked at Real Sociedad, to offer him the role of sporting director at the club.
Olabe signed Isaac from Dortje for a fee of £8 million at Real Sociedad in 2019, and three years later sold Isaac to Newcastle for a fee of £63 million.
Negotiations between Newcastle and Isaac over a contract extension broke down in the summer, with the club's hierarchy feeling they could not afford to pay him more and, at the time, he had four years left on his contract.
Arsenal have put Isak near the top of their list for next summer and the arrival of Olabe will no doubt help that deal.
Isaac has made 14 appearances for Newcastle this season, scoring six goals and three assists.
