Plymouth's first win in the Championship! Wayne Rooney: We surprised our opponents[weirushui]

Plymouth manager Wayne Rooney was interviewed after his team beat Sunderland 3-2 at home to record their first win of the season in the Championship.

Note: Plymouth are now 16th in the Championship with five points (one win, two draws, two defeats).

Rooney said: "It was a good game, even at 1-0 down in the first half I thought the performance was good, but we needed more energy, better tempo control, more creativity, more crosses, more shots and I thought we did that in the second half. We were very good in the second half and over the course of 90 minutes I felt we deserved to win today."

Asked if Plymouth's second-half performance was their best 45 minutes under his management, Rooney said: "Possibly, we had to produce that performance in the second half to win the game, Sunderland are a good team, they have started the season really well but I think we surprised them."
