Mbappe was shown a red card during Real Madrid's match against Alaves on Sunday. Shortly after team-mate Kamavinga opened the scoring for Real, the 26-year-old striker was sent off for a dangerous and reckless tackle.
Mbappe overacted during a midfield confrontation, using his right cleat to step on the inside of Alaves' Antonio Blanc's calf.
The video assistant referee (VAR) stepped in to alert referee Cesar Soto Grado to review the move via a courtside monitor.
In the end, the referee, who has shown more red cards than anyone else in La Liga this season, sent Mbappe straight off, allowing him to end the game early. Now, the French striker faces a one-match ban.
