Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Enmecha, according to a source Caught Offside.
The youngster has been in strong form this season, attracting the attention of United as the Red Devils look to reshape their midfield. There are currently five defensive midfielders in the United squad - Ugarte, Casemiro, Collier, Eriksen and Menu - but three of them have an uncertain future at the club.
Casemiro and Eriksen are nearing the end of their time at United, while Menu is reluctant to renew his contract. Mindful of the need for a new defensive midfielder, United have identified Nmecha as a potential transfer target. In addition to United, other Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Villa, are also interested in Enmecha.
The clubs are awaiting an assessment of his injury and may not make any offers until the player returns to action. United are determined to build a strong squad for the coming season and Enmecha could play a key role in that plan. Given Dortmund's need to sell players to balance their finances, this move is highly likely.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has also prioritised Emecha in his transfer plans and he has scored three goals and provided two assists in 27 games for Dott this season. Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering selling players such as Kerber, Gittens and Adeyemi in a bid to stabilise their finances.
In addition, United have decided to strengthen their defence, with Everton defender Branswaite one of their main targets.
