March 19, Barcelona center back Kubasi was interviewed today, talking about Yamal, Frick, Triple Crown and other topics.
-- How did you cope with the intensive schedule when you became the main force of Barcelona and the Spanish national team at the age of 18?
I am in a very good condition and try to rest as much as possible after every game to get the best recovery. Being young does help, but the key is that you must also focus on the recovery itself.
-- How do you evaluate Frick's coaching style?
He is a great coach, always trying to help the young players develop as much as possible, knowing that we also have a lot of room for improvement. When things are not going well, he also gives us encouragement. He gives us freedom on the pitch, emphasising key principles, but football is a game of mistakes. When you make a mistake, you must learn to forget it and learn from it.
- What is the biggest change for Barcelona this season?
A change in mindset is crucial. Last year we lacked that belief and, although the squad was almost the same, the spirit of the team changed radically.
-- What do you think of Yamal's performance?
-- What do you think of Yamal's performance?
He's a phenomenal creator on the pitch. You can never predict his next move, he could be anywhere. I experienced this threat first hand in training and still enjoy the challenge. He can decide a game with just four touches.
-- Can you win the Treble this season?
We will fight for all possible titles, but we have to fight one game at a time. We are entering a crucial stage of the season where we have to win almost every game. Since the beginning of the season we have had the mentality to fight for all the titles and we have the quality and fitness to achieve that.
-- Your most memorable football memory?
Barca beat Juve in the 2015 Champions League final in Berlin. Another treble this season? We need to take it step by step, but we really want to.
-- Defensive end learning template vs. toughest opponent?
Van Dijk is my focus.
- The most difficult striker in his career so far?
Mbappe, Vinicius and Harry Kane.
