Real Madrid's victory over Atalanta came at a price
Real Madrid fans were concerned after the French forward left the field early with an injury in Real's 3-2 win over Atalanta. Mbappe left the game early because of injury.
In the early morning of December 11 (Beijing time) in the sixth round of the Champions League group game, Mbappe scored the opening goal for Real Madrid against Atalanta. It was also his 50th goal in the Champions League. At 25, Mbappe becomes the second youngest player in Champions League history to reach the 50-goal milestone, behind Messi, who reached the achievement in 2012 at 24 years and 284 days.
The former Paris Saint-Germain star's joy did not last long, however, as he left the field in the 36th minute with a muscle injury. At present, Real Madrid are carrying out tests to determine the severity of Mbappe's injury. This is very important because the team will play against Leganes in La Liga on December 15.
Speaking after the match, coach Carlo Ancelotti said of Mbappe's condition: "He has a muscle strain and his thigh doesn't feel good. We must observe. It doesn't look serious, but I don't know. We'll find out tomorrow. He can't accelerate. It upset Mbappe, so we had to make a change."
Before leaving the field, Mbappe was excellent. Ancelotti deployed him in a central role, supported by Vinicius Juniol, Braim Diaz and Jude Bellingham. In 36 minutes of playing time, Mbappe shot three times on target, touched the ball 19 times and passed 91 percent of the time. In addition to Mbappe, Vinicius Juniol and Jude Bellingham also scored as Real Madrid won 3-2 away to Atlanta. The win temporarily catapulted Real into 18th place in the Champions League table with nine points from six games.
