He said: "I wanted to join Juve last summer but there was no agreement between the clubs, I was frustrated and had a dispute with the club because the time was right to move. But then I turned the page and started giving everything for Sassuolo again."
"Three years ago, Atalanta also wanted to sign me, but I said no because I didn't think it was the right time, especially with my physical condition. I felt immature until I was 26 and 27. You see, I wanted to play all the time, so I turned down opportunities that might have made me rotate or come off the bench, I didn't believe in myself 100 per cent, I wanted to start all the time, but that's not possible at a big club."
"I don't regret it now, but I know I've matured and in the last two or three years I've been ready for new adventures."
"Now I'm 30 years old, and I can tell you with a 30-year-old mentality, at 20 to 21, I should have believed in myself more and given it a go. But choices are made when they are needed."
